Introduction

Your Lab Data is a free web-based LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System), ELN (Electronic Lab Notebook) and resource center, aimed at a typical small molecular biology laboratory. It allows users to manage their chemicals, fridges, freezers, boxes, strains, plasmids or glycerol’s, oligos / primers and much more.

To get started you first need to sign up for an account and then select or start a lab group of your own. Once you do this you will be able to start adding chemicals and oligos of your own. The website is designed in such a way that only owners of items can modify them providing that little bit of extra security.

Your LIMS

The very first thing you will need to do is register an account on this website. You can do this by clicking register on the side menu and following the prompts. A confirmation email will be sent to your email account to verify that the email address you supplied is valid. Once your account is verified you will be able to login. To start using the Your Lab Data LIMS system you will need to navigate to this webpage or click on \"Lab Groups\" in the side menu and select a Lab Group to join or start your own group by clicking the link \"Create your OWN Group!\" and following the prompts. Once this process has been completed the LIMS system will be activated and you can start to take advantage of the different features which are offered.

Your LIMS Features

Your Locations

• First, categorise your lab into locations - building, level, room and locations in a room - fridges, freezers, shelves etc.
• Enter locations in the Your Location form
• Locations now become available to other forms
• Once entered, locations cannot be deleted but may be modified
• Any user can add or modify a location

Your Boxes

• Your Boxes lets you create, delete or modify boxes and manage their contents
• Only freezer and fridge locations are available to boxes
• Any user can create a box
• Users can only modify or delete their own boxes and box contents
• Boxes can only be deleted if empty
• Users can view other users boxes and box contents

Your Chemicals

• Your Chemical lets you add, delete or modify chemicals
• Any user can add, modify or delete chemicals
• Chemical can be marked/umarked for ordering - names blink (in Firefox) when marked for ordering

Your Glycerols

• A simple form to add, delete or modify plasmids and add them to boxes
• If you upload glycerol sequences, they are available here
• Any user can create a plasmid
• Users can only modify or delete their own plasmids
• Users can view other users plasmids
• Users can add other users plasmids to their own boxes

Your Oligos

• A simple form to add, delete or modify oligos and add them to boxes
• Any user can create an oligo
• Users can only modify or delete their own oligos
• Users can view other users oligos
• Users can add other users oligos to their own boxes

Your Strains

• A simple form to add, delete or modify strains and add them to boxes
• Any user can create a strain
• Users can only modify or delete their own strains
• Users can view other users strains
• Users can add other users strains to their own boxes
